Trying to
find a suitable place to stay in Amsterdam
can be daunting due to how many amazing and unusual options you can choose
from. With an option for every budget from 11€ up to the hundreds there are
endless opportunities. During my recent visit, after stressing out about buying
my accommodation mere days beforehand and spending hours on the computer to
find the perfect place, I happened across Hotel La Bohème, possibly the best
place I could have stayed in for my budget.
One of the
main characteristics you need from a hotel in Amsterdam is definitely the proximity to the
city and anywhere else you want to visit. Personally, aside from the obvious
city centre, I wanted somewhere close to the museums, mainly the Van Gogh
gallery. Hotel La Bohème is conveniently situated a ten minute walk from the
city, and a ten minute walk from Museum Square, with a shuttle bus running to
and from the airport less than a minute away. So whether you need accommodation
for the weekend or just a night during a long stop-over it’s suitable for both.
The hotel
itself is modern, clean and affordable. A standard single room comes with your
own sink, a television (yes with some English channels), a security box, free
reading material and of course a single bed. There are two huge windows at the
head of the bed which open out onto a patio, perfect for the warmer months. If
you’re booking your room online a free breakfast is included, a tradition Dutch
buffet from 8am-11am. The staff are incredibly helpful - they all speak English
and are all residents of Amsterdam
making them perfect guides.
The hotel has a strict no smoking and no drugs policy so if you’re looking for a space where you can go mental with your friends this isn’t the place for you. However if you need a place to stay for a night or two to soak in the culture of Amsterdam then you’ll find no better place on a budget.
A single
room at Hotel La Bohème costs 55€ per night depending on the season. A 20€ deposit is required for
the key.
