The Four Essential Hobbies For A Happy Life

Essential Hobbies Happy Life

In our daily struggles to have a happy and fulfilling life we often get lost in just how to make that happen. We mistake money and popularity for happiness and although I agree that they can provide you with some euphoria they can kind real old real quick. No there isn't a quick fix to make you some super exuberant, successful and beautiful person, but guess what? There are four types of hobbies that will definitely help.

One That Keeps You Fit/Healthy
(Running, Yoga, Pole Dancing, Boxing, Cooking)
Whether you're a fitness fanatic or a couch potato you'll always find yourself a sport or exercise that you'll love. It could be something as simple as a 30 minute gym sesh or a run, or maybe something more unique like pole dancing. Either way doing something purely for your body will allow you to live a long and healthy life. Remember with fitness you're better off mixing it up with something out of your normal routine each week. This doesn't mean you can't have a hardcore hobby you do everyday. Not entirely a gym junkie? No problem, cooking is an amazing thing to teach yourself. Skills that you'll need everyday of your life are the best ones to learn.

One That Makes You Money
(Creative, Blogs, Writing, Photography, Modeling, Gardening)
Some argue that once your hobby begins to make you money, it becomes a job. Personally I beg to differ. A job to me is something you feel like you have to keep up with. Does someone selling their extra vegetables at a farmers market feel obliged to come back every month and sell? Does someone who writes on the side get nauseous at the idea of having to pump out 5 articles this week? No, you know why? Because it's not their primary source of income, it's something they do for fun because they love it. Extra points if it's something you can turn into a career.

One That Makes You Happy
(Movies, Social Endeavors, Skydiving, Volunteering)
Not all hobbies have to have some end goal in mind. Everyone definitely needs a hobby that just lets them wind down and let go. Now this can be as simple as watching your favourite movies or reading a book in your homemade pillow fort. Or if you're not a stay at home kinda person try something more thrilling such as skydiving. I guarantee it will blast you out of a stale routine and open your eyes.

One That Enriches Your Mind
(Languages, Volunteering, Instrument, Reading, Crosswords)
Of course you need a hobby that develops and grows your mind, that's what the human experience is all about. It doesn't have to be intense; you can do a daily crossword or Sudoku. Or, if you want to develop new and useful skills taking up a language or instrument is a brilliant way to keep your brain in tip-top condition. It's not just about keeping yourself smart, oh no, we want to keep our minds fresh and personalities humble. Charity work and volunteering (yes also something that makes you happy) can teach you valuable life lessons that you'd never find in a book. Possible one of the most valuable 'hobbies' to have.
