Tanzhe Temple, Beijing | Photo Diary

Tanzhe Temple Beijing Photo Diary

If you like your temples then Tanzhe Temple is one for your bucket list. It's the oldest temple in Beijing and like all temples highly spiritual. A lot of people after being in china for over a few weeks complain that all temples begin to look the same. It's true that a lot of them have similar architecture and contents, what do you expect, but Tanzhe temple is one that should be visited. Although parts of it are that of a typical temple it's a catacomb of chambers.

To get there you need to take the subway to Pingguoyuan at the end of Line 1. From there take the 931 bus from exit A. Outside the subway you'll be bombarded with people trying to get you into their 'taxis'. While normally a brisk 'bu yao' would fix the situation even this won't fend them off. Take the 931 all the way to the end of the line. It will only cost about 2yuan and take about 40 minutes on the bus. It drops you off at the gate where you'll need to buy a ticket, 55yuan from the time that I went.
